February 29. Have you ever said, “I wish I had a little more time?” “I just need one more day?” Well, here it is. Today is your free day, that extra 24 hours. It’s leap year and God’s gift to you is one additional day this year. What will you do with it? I sure don’t want to spend it reading some long blog (or writing one) so, here are 20 quick suggestions. Pick out 3 or 4 and do them today on this gift day. And know that you are absolutely blessed.
- Read the Beatitudes this morning and meditate on the blessings of God.
- Write a note to someone who needs a word of encouragement.
- Buy a cup of coffee for a stranger behind you in the drive-through line.
- Give $10 to a homeless guy.
- Organize your cell phone pictures
- Set 5 goals for NEXT leap year.
- Pray an extra 29 minutes.
- Read every 29th chapter in the Bible (11 of them)
- Read the 29th book of the Bible (Joel)
- Send 4 texts of affirmation to your 2 sons and 2 daughters-in-law (okay, pretty personal)
- Take a friend to lunch
- Take a not friend to lunch.
- Skip lunch and walk 29 minutes.
- Write yourself a letter for 2028.
- Send $29 to a mission or non-profit. (Branches, 1102 Dow St…just kidding)
- Start reading Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis
- Take a nap without feeling guilty.
- Venmo your grandkids $10 just because.
- Tell 4 people that God loves them.
- Pray Psalm 67 over you and your house.
