the disciplines of prayer, study, meditation, and fasting are better known. But the discipline is fasting is desperately needed in our western culture. Here’s a paragraph from Richard Foster’s book.
Stuff distracts. Stuff delays. And stuff demands.
How do I think differently?
See things as a gift.
See God as in charge.
See yourself as a resource.
So what do I do?
1. Don’t buy things for status.
2. Be a giver, not a hoarder.
3. Enjoy creation.
4. Reject the hype.
5. Avoid addiction.
6. See God first. Matthew 6:33 “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and everything else will be added to you as well.”
