Love Actually: Day 19

Love Actually: Day 19

Welcome to Day 19  can you believe we are almost halfway through with our 40 Day Spiritual Adventure? Today read Psalm 143, Proverbs 10, and Hebrews 2:1-18. Here’s the last verse of all of that: “Since He Himself has gone through suffering and testing, He is able to help us when we are being tested.” Hebrews 2:18

Really simple take away today. First, you will be tested. Sometimes you bring it on yourself. Sometimes the enemy of our souls will attack you. And sometimes, as hard as it is to understand, God may even allow you to experience something to “refine” you like gold. But here is take away number two, Jesus is there to help you. And when Jesus helps you, well, you’ve been helped.

The other day I decided to help Jon-Mical with his homework. Now, JM is smart. He goes to the Magnate school in our county. You have to be accepted. It’s all about the brains. That’s where he goes to the 7th grade. So, I decided to help him with his homework. MATH homework. We started into problem 1. Something about the hypotenuse of a right triangle. I am secretly on my phone looking up hypotenuse and I realize that JM is on problem 3. This one talks about some guy named Pythagorean and his theory about stuff. Well, I have a theory. It is that 7th grade ain’t what it used to be and they should be focusing on the things I learned, how to climb the rope in gym class, and who would trade at lunch for my PB&J sandwich.

JM is really smart, did I mention that? He is also very kind. He said, “PoppyC, thank you so much for helping me with my homework. I bet Jakson (4th grade) would like some help too.” Don’t get me started on what THEY are learning!

The point is, there are different levels of help. And when King Jesus puts His arm over your shoulder and says, “We are going to get through this,” well, that is help you can take to the bank. So, don’t fret about the test. Focus on the Helper.

And just to be a little different today, if you get a chance listen to the latest episode of What Difference Does That Make? It’s about sadness and testing of sorts. Here’s the link.

Remember what we are doing:

1. Read the Word

2. Pray in His Presence.

3. Do something for His people.

4. Do something for His church.

5. And do something for His world.

See you tomorrow
