Love Actually: Day 10

Love Actually: Day 10

Saturday’s post, a little shorter and today, a great quote. I like this image. We are warriors for the King:

”My prayer is not the whimpering of a beggar nor a confession of love. Nor is it the trivial reckoning of a small tradesman: Give  me and I shall give you.

My prayer is the report of a soldier to his general: This is how I did today, this is how I fought to save the entire battle in my sector, these are the obstacles I found, this is how I plan to fight tomorrow.

My God and I are horseman, galloping in the burning sun or under drizzling rain. Pale, starving, but unsubdued, we ride and converse.

”Leader,” I cry. He turns His face toward me, and I shudder to confront his anguish.

Our love for each other is rough and ready, we sit at the same table, we drink the same ale at this low tavern of life.”

Love Actually: Day 6

Love Actually: Day 6

Perhaps no one is better equated with self-less ministry to the poor than Mother Teresa. Yet she struggled with one consistent fear, even as she worked for decades in the darkest slums of Calcutta. She said, “Pray for me that I not loosen my grip on the hands of Jesus even under the guise of… Continue Reading

Love Actually: Day 5

Today we start the first full week of our Lenten observation, Love Actually.  My kids asked me this weekend, “Dad, have you seen that movie?” I admitted I have not. Apparently, there are some scenes and themes that I might not approve of. 🤭  Well, the devil had the name long enough. It’s time for… Continue Reading
