We are in the 1st weekend. The weekends are a little slower. I won’t do much of a devotional on Saturday and Sunday we take off from the 40 Days and focus on worship. I’ll say more about that in just a second.
- time in the Word. Today we read Psalm 15 again. Read Proverbs 20 today. (I do suggest is that on Sunday you read Proverbs 21.) Ask God to reveal some word of wisdom just for you today. And, read 2 Peter 1:1-11 today.
- time in His Presence. Spend 12 minutes today in prayer. Use the Lord’s Prayer as an outline. 6 parts, 2 minutes each, 12 minutes. We will expand on that in week 3.
- time FOR His people. Do something small, and perhaps anonymous, for one person today. Send an encouraging text, pay for a cup of coffee, hold open a door.
- Start thinking about a small project you could do for your church over the next 6 weeks. God loves His Church. And a small project for the environment, like pick up trash at the local park. God loves His creation. We have time to think about that.
Now for a quick thought. 2 Peter 1:3 from our reading today says, “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life.” One question people often ask, why do we not include Sunday’s in Lent? Lent is a time to prepare our hearts for the suffering and sacrifice of Good Friday. We are learning to love the things that God loves in order to become more “Godly,” or God-like. But Sundays are the celebration days where we rejoice in the “divine power” that He has given us to live those God-like lives. See, we focus on being like Him 6 days a week and He gives us the ability to do just that when we worship Him on Sunday. So, have a blessed day tomorrow. Get strong. See you on Monday.
