Here are three very basic beliefs about God. You start with these to settle what you believe about everything else.
- 1. God created everything. He is large and in charge.
- 2. He created everything with purpose and order. A disciplined life is a good thing. We’ve looked at those. (Go back to the last few weeks.)
- 3. Today, He is interested and involved in His creation.
Matthew 6:23-26 says He’s concerned about the lilies and He’s concerned about you. If that’s true. (And it is) then these things follow.
First, we have His individual attention. Listen, God has a lot going on, but He is absolutely paying attention to YOU!
- 1. He knows every detail of your life. He’s not surprised by your circumstances.
- 2. He understands your feelings. He’s not put off when you are sad, mad, or feeling bad.
- 3. You matter to Him. Let me say that again, YOU matter to Him.
Second, we have open communication with God. If He made you, and He cares about you, He wants to talk to you. It’s a pretty simple plan. You’ll pray. He listens. He responds.
Third thing, He gives us daily guidance. He made us. He knows us. He’s interested in us. And He will guide us.
- 1. He’ll give you wisdom in decisions.
- 2. He’ll give you clarity in directions.
- 3. He’ll give you steps for discipline.
Final thing, He offers constant comfort.
In the most difficult times, He is there.
In your most vulnerable times, He is strength.
In your most chaotic times, He is peace.
So, Matthew 6:33 makes more sense. “Seek first the Kingdom of God, because you are known, and loved, and directed there, and everything else will take care of itself. MCV. (Mike Courtney Version)
